LECTURE NOTES

Week 01

07/01/19

Today is our very first lecture about Intercultural Design. Mr Asrizal briefed us about this module by MIB and also about some information of our assignment. After that, we were separate according to our trip team which are Seoul, Tokyo and Burneo. After we are at the right team, Mr Asrizal show us about the list of our assignment group mate to lets us know each other in the group.

Not only that, Mr Asrizal briefed us about the schedule of our trip and also let us decided who we want to stay with in the hotel. Lastly, Mr Anis also pick some leader to form a group when we are Ghibil Museum because there are different time for us to visit.

09/01/19

There are a announcement for us that we are having a steam live on Facebook at 09:00pm by Mr Charles. In the steam live, Mr Charles explained more detail in our assignment. He give us a guide for all assignment and also let us to comment when we have some question about it.

Week 02

14/01/19

Today we discuss about the question that Mr Charles and Ms JinChi post on Google Classroom. We were discuss in a group of 8 - 10. After that, lecturer choose some group to present their discussion at the hall.

Week 03

21/01/19 - 25/01/19

We didn't have any lecture and tutorial class for this week because we are at Tokyo,Japan.

Week 04

28/01/19

Mr Asrizal and Mr Charles show us some senior work for the final project and I realise that our final project didn't have to be that kind of bored.

Week 05

04/02/19

We didn't have class this week due to Chinese New Year's Holiday.

Week 06 - Week 07

11/02/19 - 18/02/19

We only have consultations and submission for our final product in this two week.

PROJECT

In this module which is Intercultural Design, we only have one project. It is a group of three to four assignment and the group member are arranged by our lecturers. We were given by a general theme which is "Living with Nature. The final product can be anything but it have to related to the theme that given. There are three part for the project which are : Proposal, Data Collection and Final Product.

For the first part, we have to do a proposal which to concretise ideas supported by research. We have to define and interpret the theme in relation to that culture and from our point of view as a designer in the contemporary world. In the proposal, we also produce some preliminary ideas and each idea is supported by a short rationale. So for our group, we choose the theme as "Wagashi" which is a traditional Japanese confections.

After we done our proposal, we went to Tokyo, Japan to do our next part which is "Data Collection". In Tokyo, our group start collection knowledge, items, experience separately so that we can have more information and knowledge when we share to each other. In this Tokyo trip, I tried to find some Wagashi shop but it is quite hard to find because we only travel in Tokyo and mostly the shop are in other state. But me and my group members still maintain to find 1/2 shop in Tokyo.

After we came back from Tokyo, Japan, we start to think about our final product. Not only that, we also consult our lecturer to get more ideas and also advice. At first, our idea is calendar but our lecturer said if using our topic to do a calendar will be quite bored so we changed to idea. In the end, we decided to do a learning card since the Wagashi have many type and some is in different name.
